Trick-or-Treat

Happy Halloween! I love Halloween. Partly because that means fall is here and I love all the decorations and corn mazes and dressing up for parties. And to me, it's the kick off to the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Since I don't dress up anymore, I make it a big deal to dress up my boys. It's just fun and they look so cute. I think I am going to try to do matching costumes with the boys. This year I chose a Fireman costume for Davin since he has been interested in fire trucks lately. So to go along with a fireman I thought it would be cute to dress Landin as a Dalmatian. I went online and searched every store looking for a Dalmatian costume to fit a newborn and had no luck so I thought it would be easy to make the costume. I went to a fabric store and found some material and a pattern for newborn pajamas. It seemed simple enough till I went to start working on it. I haven't sewed anything since Jr. High so Patsy, my mother-in-law, said she would help. She hasn't sewn in about 20 yrs. but we put our heads together and figured out where to start. We got the pattern all cut out and sized to Landin and started sewing away. It was a roller coaster ride trying to get this costume put together. It took all day to sew it and to get it to where it looked right. After it was done we tried it on Landin and showed him to Aren and he says "I thought he was supposed to be a dog, not a cow." Yup, he looked like a cow. The material I had bought looked Dalmatian like but when made into something, it was cow material. I said oh well, he looks cute and we went with it. He sort of looks like a dalmatian if you know what he is really supposed to be.

Anyway, we took Davin trick-or-treating at the South Towne mall

and then around the neighborhood.

When we got home Atessa, Aren's sister and her husband Tyler, His twin Trevor, and Amber, Trevor's girlfriend where at Aren's parents house. Tyler thought it would be funny to shower Davin with all his candy.
Davin thought it was funny so he would gather up all his candy then dump it on himself.

Everyone was trying to eat Davin's candy and Davin was stingy in giving it away. He gave away the smallest pieces he could find. He sat on his candy so no one would take it.
Davin's bucket weighd 6 lbs! I couldn't beleive it. I can't wait till next year when we can take both of the boys out trick-or-treating. We had a lot of fun this year.

Landin Aren Zamani

The joys of having a newborn around are priceless. Our little bundle of joy arrived on Tuesday Oct 12, 2010 @ 10:12pm weighing 7lbs 3 oz and 20 inches. He was a little under 2 weeks early.

It all started at about 3am that morning. Aren had just gone back to work in Vernal that Sunday. I had a feeling this would be the week and I begged Aren not to go. I just wasn't ready. Aren had to go anyway. I was home alone with Davin. I had woke up to go to the bathroom like I usually did every morning around that time but something seemed different this time. I had a little discomfort and cramping. I thought that it was just from holding off going to the bathroom so i tried going back to sleep. The discomfort started getting a little worse so I opened my pregnancy bible (What To Expect While Expecting) and read that this discomfort could be prelabor pains. So I started timing them and they where about an hour apart and lasted 5-7 minutes long. I text Aren at about 4:30am and told him the situation. I tried getting some sleep but all I could think about was getting my house cleaned and my kitchen stocked because I knew we would be having people over. I was not ready. It did make things easier knowing I was having a home delivery though. I called my midwife and she said to take it easy and she would stop by later. The pain was getting a little worse by this time but that didn't slow me down. I made Davin breakfast and got us ready for the day then took him to my in laws and told them what was going on and I headed to the store. When I got back home Davin stayed with grandpa Zamani and Patsy, my mother-in-law, helped me clean my house and get my room ready for delivery. My midwife showed up around 3:30 and I was dilated to about a 4 or 5

Popsicles are better when you're in labor than chewing ice.

I text Aren "Get home now!" but he couldn't leave. The pain was getting harder to bear. My mom came over around 4pm and Aren came home around 9pm. I was dilated to a 10 but my water hadn't broke so when Aren walked into the room I started pushing. I couldn't take the pain anymore. I pushed and pushed. Nothing seemed to be happening. So I had my midwife break my water and out slid our beautiful baby boy into Aren's hands as healthy as can be. Yup, Aren got the privilege of catching Landin and cutting his umbilical cord.

What a happy dad.

I started hemorrhaging right after delivery and was rushed to the E.R. at Lakeveiw Hospital where I got 6 blood transfusions and waited 18 hrs in the ICU for a Dr.. He came into my room and said I needed surgery. Aren and I didn't agree. We asked to be transferred to St. Marks for a 2nd opinion and the transfer was made. I got to see a Dr right away and was told I didn't need surgery. I was given medication and stayed over night in the Labor and Delivery Dept. Not being able to see my newborn for 2 days was very hard. Aren's parents brought the boys to the hospital to see Aren and me in the morning. I was so happy to see them. I was released at noon that day, relieved.

Our little family. First family photo with Landin.

I am grateful that I have such great in laws to take care of my boys.

Also, I have the best husband in the world. He stayed with me through everything even though he hadn't slept in over 24 hrs. And the ICU nurse tried sending him home because visiting hours were over. I complained and he got to stay. I love him so much and am so thankful that he could give me such amazing boys.

Davin can't get enough of his little brother. He loves to hold him and help out.

Fun on the farm in the fall

Jodi and I took Davin and Kelci to Black Island Farms in Syracuse as a fun fall time activity. There was so much to do and we had a lot of fun.
First we went to the petting zoo. Kelci jumped right in and started feeding the animals. She wasn't scared at all.

Davin on the other hand was terrified. He screamed when he saw a llama walking toward him.

                                                                              I loved this.
Next we walked over to the tire swings that were cut into different designs. Davin chose the dragon. Well, I think it was a dragon.

                                                                     Jodi wanted a ride too.
Davin is a brave little boy. He climbed all the way to the top of the slide and slid down his self.
He didn't want to slide with Jodi...
So she went down by her self.
Kelci didn't care much for the slide so she stayed with me.
Davin did want to go down the tunnel slide with Jodi cause in his words "It's scary."
It was a big black tube that was about 50 yds. long. Or longer.

Next we walked over to a the barrel train. They had painted water barrels to look like cows and pigs and  pulled them around with a 4-wheeler.

Poor Kelci. She hated it so much that she tried to get off while the were going

Davin absolutely loved it. He rode around 4 times before I pulled him off. He would have rode it all night if I would have let him.
The kids played in a sandbox filled with corn,
Ran through tunnels,
Played on the teeter totters,
And, enjoyed cookies and cider.

It was a fun way to start Fall. The season I love the most. Thanks Jodi for getting us tickets. Hope we can go again next year.
